Collection: HOMELAND DONABES

Homeland, a design collective comprising solely of women, was established in 2020. Their primary focus is collaborating with traditional manufacturers across Japan to craft contemporary household items that possess enduring appeal. One notable creation from their repertoire is the donabe collection, a joint endeavor with Matsusho, an esteemed pottery kiln in Shigaraki-cho. Known as a prominent hub for ceramic production since the 12th century, Shigaraki ware is fashioned using clay sourced from the ancient Lake Biwa. This locally procured clay boasts exceptional qualities for producing robust stoneware that is resistant to high temperatures.
