The Oigen foundry is located in area that has been producing Nambu ironware for 900 years. By casting in a fine grain sand the ironware has a renowned smooth and unblemished surface. If cared for properly Oigen ironware can last over 100 years and is made from 75% recycled material.

The Palma collection is a collaboration between Japan Creative – a nonprofit organization and world famous designer Jasper Morrison who was invited to work with the Oigen foundry in Iwate, just north of the area affected by the 2011 tsunami. Jasper's designs create traditional Japanese details with beautiful silhouette lines, resulting in products that enhance modern spaces.

Item Description: 1L cast iron teapot, has protective coating on the interior of the teapot to protect against rust, even if tea is left inside. This teapot has a tea strainer. Give your kitchen a Japanese touch by purchasing this teapot. Water boiled in iron teapots becomes soft and tastes good even when cooled. Outside of Japan, they are especially popular in other tea growing countries such as China and Taiwan. Recently it's been gaining popularity in the western countries due to a new appreciation for delicious water.

Care Instructions: Hand wash with hot water, using sparingly if needed. Do not soak. Dry thoroughly, preferably on the stove top. Brush forming rust away with a brush and wash normally.
