WYP (Waste Yarn Project) is a studio that creates one-of-a-kind knitwear from leftover yarn found in factories. They don't pre-determine color combinations; instead, they knit each piece based on the unique color schemes that emerge. HOiSUM has collaborated with this brand, WYP.

These high socks are made using leftover kasuri (splashed pattern) yarn. Much like WYP's knitwear, the color patterns are knitted randomly. Some of the yarn used is WASTE YARN (yarn leftover from the manufacturing process).

With their longer length, the random color patterns extend all the way up to the calf.

These high socks are a result of those serendipitous color combinations.

This pair was born from the meeting of WYP’s craftsmanship, which embraces serendipity, and these dwindling, rare machines.

Made in Japan

HOiSUM products are created by combining traditional techniques that can be called legacy, vintage machines that are difficult to maintain, and carefully selected materials. The feelings and warmth you feel from something that has been made with a little extra effort or has been devised by human hands cannot be mass-produced. “Hoi” is a greeting, “Sum” is a heart, and the brand name is a coined word that combines the two words. Every encounter and connection will start with a greeting, and if the heart is warm, a connection will be born. They strive to deliver products that remain in people's hearts.
