Dutch designer Tord Boontje and his wife, glass artist Emma Woffenden, have collaborated to design an elegant line of decanters, vases, and tumblers made from recycled wine and beer bottles. The bottles are sculpted by cutting the glass on horizontal or diagonal planes with a diamond saw; the resulting raw edges are then sanded and polished. Because the Transglass project involves recycled beer and wine bottles, the color of each piece varies; shades of green, clear and brown are selected by the Artisans. Each piece is unique, and will not necessarily look like the ones pictured. |
